Tokyo's Cocoon Tower

Kenzo Tange's Mode Gakuen Cocoon is completed in October. It stands in the district of Nishi-Shinjuku, a place of distinctive high-rise buildings. Having cocoon as it concept, the Tower has become the symbol of innovation in educational design. Tokyo Mode Gakuen (fashion), HAL Tokyo (IT and digital contents) and Shuto Iko (medical treatments and care) are the schools found inside this 50-level building. It can hold as much as 10 000 students and has a 3-storey high atrium called the 'student lounge'. It is awarded as the Skyscraper of the Year by Emporis.
