Tokyo's Cocoon Tower

Kenzo Tange's Mode Gakuen Cocoon is completed in October. It stands in the district of Nishi-Shinjuku, a place of distinctive high-rise buildings. Having cocoon as it concept, the Tower has become the symbol of innovation in educational design. Tokyo Mode Gakuen (fashion), HAL Tokyo (IT and digital contents) and Shuto Iko (medical treatments and care) are the schools found inside this 50-level building. It can hold as much as 10 000 students and has a 3-storey high atrium called the 'student lounge'. It is awarded as the Skyscraper of the Year by Emporis.

Need a Therapist

I wish things in my life could change right here, right now. I wish I could free myself from worries. But all of those were only wishes.
God! I want a life that is carefree! I'm tired of thinking how to get rid of my problems. But I just can't avoid it.
A friend of mine always tell me I shouldn't consume my mind thinking of them and just be happy. Probably she's right. However, I can't be happy if there are still unsolved problems. Being joyful, I think, is but an escape. But I thank her for giving me such advice.

Currently, I'm worried of my cousin. She's close to me. We always talk of everything under the of our views in life and our plans in the future.
But last last night after school, she didn't talk to me. She got cold (if you know what I mean) and I'm not 'manhid' not to recognize that. I told her about Katkat's jokes but didn't give a damn. She acted like she didn't care about it and pretended she heard nothing at all. That annoyed me. I was (and still am) very upset about it.
Ive got a share of problems in school and it seems like she wants to add up in my burden. And I really, really hate it...

Got A Problem, Dude...

Obviously, the topic is about my problem, academics to be specific.
Today, I was so depressed. I got low grades; well, a passing grade but still not satisfactory. It's not that low, you know. It's just that I feel like I didn't get what I was expecting.
To be honest, I was expecting a higher grade, higher than what I got today.
I always give my best shot, you know, but definitely not my all (I guess). But it always ends up in a grade which I believe isn't enough to hold my head up high; and I think it isn't fare.

You stay up late at night thinking what's the best design or architectural solution; talk to different architects, even to your co-students, to criticize your schematic plan; research about famous architects to know how they made a great floor plan or solution, et cetera, et cetera. I mean you do all that stuff but you're not getting the grade that you think you deserve. And that's what I feel today.
I'm pressured, honestly. And I really don't like this feeling. It's eating me, dude.

It's the optimism that keeps me going. But as the day passes by, I am getting frustrated about academics and I think optimism is just an escape from reality.
I always keep in mind that I am a scholar and a failing grade in one subject will mean no more footprints on the grounds of UST, no more footprints on the floors of Beato Angelico Building. That's my motivation. However, because of that thinking, I came up asking myself if being an architect ws really my 'calling'.
That's why I gave God a condition, i.e., I will give my best (actually, I'm already giving my best). But if I still fail, it will mean that God has a better plan for me.

Ameican Idol Fever

Uhmmm. Nag-start na ang Americal Idol Season 8. And now, there are four judges. And the lucky girl na napasama sa mga dating judges is no other than KARA DIOGUARDI...
She's beautiful. She's got a nice hair. Well, mas bagay sa kanya 'pag curly yung hair nya. Lalo syang gumaganda! Parang napaglumaan tuloy si Paula Abdul.

As usual, may mga nag-o-audition na hindi magagaling. Pero they think na sobrang galing nila kumanta kaya magagalit sila pag di nila nakuha ang golden ticket to Hollywood.
I have here the top four persons na nag-audition sa Americal Idol who I remember the most:
  1. The Girl in the Bikini. Yep. Believe it or not, merong girl na nag-audition na naka-two piece. And she caught Simon's attention; you could see it in his eyes. The girl judges were stunned by her 'gimik'.

She sang Mariah Carey's Vision of Love. And Simon, in a matter of seconds, decided to give her a chance to Hollywood. And here's Kara who said that what she did isn't any good. So, she sang Vision of Love (I think in a better way). And then, this 'Bikini girl' (from the Blue Corner) said that what Kara did isn't any better. So Kara (from the Red Corner), threw the paper she's holding (which made her cute) and stood up. And Paula Abdul got up from her chair and she repeated what the contestant had said (uhmm.. kind of referee).

Paula asks what Randy's decision is; he said yes. Kara was of course shocked. And then Paula also said yes and that stopped the fight. The Bikini girl got the golden ticket.

2. The Beautiful Girl. There was this beautiful girl who auditioned. I forgot what she sang but I definitely didn't want to know. She's beautiful so the judges expected a lot from her, you know, a full package. She started singing...And...And...And all the thing I could remember was when Simon rolled his eyes and the other judges were laughing and smiling. Simon said that she's like a cat who jumped out of the Empire State Building. And (according to Simon) her voice was like the sound of that cat before it hit the ground.

Obviously, it wasn't good. The expected full package turned out into 'fool package'!

3. Micheal Castro. Off all the people who auditioned, his name was the only name I could recall. He was Jason Castro's brother. Well, if you watched American Idol Season 8, he's the guy in dreadlocks with a very powerful charming looks. Micheal, on the other hand, (for me) is also cute but not as charming as his brother. There are a lot of differences between them. Jason preferred reggae while Micheal preferred rock.

He (Micheal) has a longer and higher voice range than Jason. And I find him (Micheal) more interesting because of that...

4. The Geek Guy. A guy wearing a long sleeve polo and shorts entered the audition hall. Well, he looked like a geek. I think, based on his appearance, he's not a pure American. He doesn't look like an American. He looked more of a Middle-East Asian, you know, big round eyes & big nose.

But when he started singing, the judges were stunned because his voice was very soothing. It sounded like Boys2Men. In fact, he sang a Boys2Men's song. But Paula suggested he should also focus on stage presence particularly about the outfit.

He got 4 yes'es and the golden ticket.

Buhay Arki: Exam

Whether prelim, finals or quiz, meron silang common denominator. Pagkalabas mo ng room where you took your exam at may nakita kang classmate, eto ang kasunod: It's either ikaw or yung classmate mo ang mag-i-start ng conversation about the exam: the questions and your answers, tapos iko-compare nyo pa (answers). You'll discuss na yung questions are (for example) paulit-ulit, di mo sure kaya nag-ala 'Madame Auring' ka, pinag-aralan mo pero di ka pa rin sure sa answer mo and a whole lot more.
Tapos, yung kausap mo is hindi sure sa sagot nya, esp. sa Math (kahit anong branch ng Math), and then you say na dapat 'ganito, ganyan' ang ginawa nya. And sya naman is getting nervous and histerical sa magiging result ng exam nya...

Meron pang situation na paulit-ulit pero it seems like di nakakasawa.
The situation is regarding pa rin sa exam but this time, prior sa exam.
Okay, meron sa tabi-tabi na mag-a-angas na he studied the lectures. Ikaw naman, you're gonna tell na 'buti pa sya kasi nakapag-aral sya and ikaw hinde. And then you'll tell him the reason you weren't able to study your lectures and handouts. So, the same process and panorama: You'll get your mahiwagang notebook and/or paper kung sa'n nakasulat ang lectures mo and your shining and crumpled handouts na parang pinaglumaan na ng panahon dahil basta na lang mai-suksok sa bag...
And you're going to bow your head... and... read... and...read...And poof! Your proctor, coming out of nowhere, is right in front of you. And you will read as fast as you can and ipinapasok mo sa utak mo yung ideas kahit wala na'ng gusto pumasok...

For me, it's funny because it happens again and again but it's not satiating. Actually, nakakatawa pa nga.
